The Lure Of The Mountains

January 7, 2011
Mountains have always awed me, mesmerised me. Very recently I had the opportunity to visit Shimla and Kufri In the State of Himachal Pradesh, India. Although I missed the snowfall, but the view was awesome.  I tried to capture the beauty by my camera.  Will be putting pics of snow laden Kufri next.
 Have a look!

Enjoy!

In the 3rd last pic, the fencing seems like peeled off bananas and the monkey staring at them! Nice! :)

Last year had been to Simla, Manali and these photos have revived memories.

Prashant said...

mmm....well, When the wires are part of the 'story' they are welcome.. infact..they can add a mystic realism too as you said.. but in landscape photography such as these, they become an eyesore...

you can use the smudge or clone tool in these easily available photo-editing softwares to remove these.....

It reminds me of Dehra and Mussoorie... I went to Hardwar in 2008 and made it to those places too. I wanted to meet with Mr. Ruskin Bond but the tourist bus wasn't supposed to give us that much time...so I had to come back, dejected, and I still don't know whether I am going to make it once again to that place while he still remains alive, for there are thousands of responsibilities to take care of and I don't know if I'll be able to make it again.

I never had a camera... but I always wanted to have one. Fancied about one day when someone will come and gift me a camera because my father doesn't allow me to have one. But I see the same way you see those mountains. And just because I can't capture them, sometimes I sit at the windows of my lone room and keep thinking about them, and keep writing...life is different once we come across mountains.

Thanks for uploading these pics. It reminded me a lot of things.

talking about Dehara and Mussorie.. i would like to bring it to everyone notice that the famed clock tower will be demolished soon.. the govt is mulling over a proposal on those lines...

and to save it.. Tom Alter, the veteranactor is running a campaign.. at that very spot.. for almost six months now...

S.R. Ayyangar - :) am glad.

Prashant - u have a point. Will use them next time. thanks.

Soumyo - I've been to Mussorie and above that too, truely that place stole my heart... there is strange, mysterious attraction in it, mostly becoz of its past, the british connection... it was so evident there.

Hey, why ur father opposes having a camera? but, am glad u could see it through my pics :)
