I was thinking to change the commenting form of my blog. Finally, I have installed Disqus commenting form. Through this post I want to share how I did it.
It's very simple if you have a normal blogger template. You just have to go to Disqus, create an account and install the code, which will automatically be added to your blogger HTML template. But, since I had used a template which was not of Blogger, I could not install it automatically. For this purpose, if you have knowledge about HTML code, then you can simply use the "Universal Code" of Discus and place it at appropriate place. But, in case you don't have much knowledge about HTML ( like me), then you can first take a back-up of your current HTML of blogger template in your PC hard drive and revert to the default template of Blogger. Now, go to Disqus and install the commenting form. Later on, you can use your favourite template (non Blogger one).
After disqus is installed, it shows the comments as "0" !! This can shock you!! Don't worry, you can import all the comments and then choose to synchronize all the future comments by doing some settings in Disqus.
Now, the funny part was that I was looking for my dear blogger Pal's comments in my blogger dashboard!!! While the comments were getting stored on Disqus Dashboard!!!! psst! I didn't know that!!
I like this commenting form, as I can quickly reply to comments without shuffling through all the posts on my blog. Also, it helps bring out a logical discussion, as I can reply on the relevant comment at the appropriate place.
Since, I encourage healthy and open discussions on various topics ( I really like it, when you write for me!) using a commenting form like this is very beneficial.
I have heard that Disqus takes a lot of time to load?? Are you also feeling the same??
Do let me know what you think about it? and about the look of the blog.
I would look forward to your suggestions :)

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Restless,
How are you? It has been loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time since i visted your page. I will read all your recent posts one by one and comment. Cheers - Always Happy
It ha
Yes I also installed Disqus earlier but when it showed 0 comment i immediately removed it and even deleted my account but when I saw Disqus on your with all the old comment intact I explored it further and finally I got to know about comment importing system and then I also installed it on my blog. Even my template is not default template of blogger but it does not need to backup and all. you can directly allow widget to install on bogger and it ask for permission on blogger your account to allow Disqus and its done. yes the Disqus take little time to get loaded because of its lot of features.
Excellent blog. Hope it figures high in our June survey, but won't make a judgement now. In the meantime, 'spotting!' it.
All the best.
Restless,
Thanks. Too complicated for me. I will need help for installation.
Take care
I have been using disqus for a while now...however some months ago, I uninstalled it as some people were unable to comment and there were issues like that. But then they made changes to disqus and I've reinstalled it. So far, no one has complained apart from one person saying they cannot comment via their mobile phone. Just keep an eye on it is all I will say. Having said that, I think it's high time blogger came up with the threaded comments feature!!
My comment has gone missing?
Congrats.
Disqus is a very useful tool and I also installed it due to the features it offers. I never had problem with it until I read on some forums that it takes time to load. Till then I had not observed any such thing. After reading such comment, I carefully observed it and this is what I found: -
1. Yes, it takes time to load.
2. But, it is only disqus thread which takes time and posts load with their normal speed as they were loading earlier.
3. It means that reader is nowhere disturbed with the loading time, as the time he takes to read the post is utilized by disqus to load.
4. Only disadvantage may be with PR (Pagerank) where site loading time is also a factor. But, again I don't think disqus takes so much time that it will affect your PR.
5. Overall, my experience so far is far better as compared to default commenting form and I highly recommend that you stick with it.
Hope it helps.
Its Nice , loading depends on your page content only , like pics which make it load a bit slower , though I'm using GPRS and browsing nothing that sort found ..I used it last year over my blog ..but my template didn't support it so removed it.
Its a good way to reply to individual comments :)
have never used it but would like to know ur experience after u have used for a week or so..
om, sure will write about my experience with Disqus.
you can try the way I told in the post.
Yeah, it feels nice responding to individual comments!
Hi!!! no dear, the comment moderation was on... ur comment is there :)
Thanks Psych Babbler for giving the feedback :)
U're right, it's high time... this feature is included in Blogger.
OK..... let me know if i can help.
Thank u so much!!!!! Very glad to know that my blog is being "spotted"!!!! Thanks a ton for the gesture! Shall look forward for the list.
Hey!! Yeah, it's been a long time :) hope all's well?!
take care
Thanks Bhavin! I tried the simple way, but it didn't work for me, so had to take this long route. Yeah seeing zero comment can shock!!! I took me one month to try it again!
It's good that through blogging,we are learning so many techie things!!!
:)
you know its annoying to comment on this...i would rather prefer Blogger :D btw how are you? i am coming here after a long time...it looks different
Good one. Though it does not show Gravatars for the old comments. Is that so?
thanks. Am not sure... although it should.
I think for the first time, one has to fill in the name and email id and the second time onwards, it picks up itself. As i had been using in other blogs.
One should keep on changing the look of the blog, right?!
Thats for this. I think I will try it. I've been trying to get the 'reply' option for individual comments (like in wordpress) and simply not able to get it. And the reason is that my template is not that of blogger. Let me try these steps and see if I manage to get what I want.
Disqus seems a good commenting system. But recently, I faced a problem where I could not post a comment on a blog using Disqus when I was using Google Chrome.
It's working fine here though.
oh thanks for giving me the feedback. Am relieved to know that... although I have been told, it's taking a lot of time to load or not loading too.
but thanks Angry Ganu.
If you don't have blogger template then installing DISQUS becomes a problem. Try my way, but don't forget to save the current template HTML code in expanded form in your PC, so tht u can revert to it any moment.
let me know if u need any help.
It's great congrats.......I am still worried..to use it....look of blog is beautiful. loading time is increased. but i think it's faster than intense debate so no prob.
Thanks Animesh, for giving ur detailed feedback.... somehow missed out on your comment.
All ur points are well appreciated.
As for PR, my blog still doesn't have one :( and I haven't understood why? if u can help.
thanks Mohini :)
Oops! I seem to have missed ur comment Animesh.
Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback. I'm glad u have such good opinion about it.
As for PR, am wondering that I don't still have a PR for my blog? some idea why?
Thanks Mohini! Let's see how it goes in the long run :) thanks!
Okay. Please don't mind. But I personally hate disqus.
One. Because a lot of my readers disliked it as they said it gave errors and took a lot of loading time. And it takes forever on a mobile.
Two. Because it took away all my comments with it! Boohoohoo!
You can check out my blog healing its wounds inflicted by disqus. I lost all my precious COMMENTS!! *tears off a chunk of hair*
http://sarcasti-nation.blogspot.com
The only advantage it had, was that it sent automatic email notifications. That is why I was initally attracted.
But hey, good news, if you still decide to stick with disqus, then know that there is some setting inside it by which you can SYNC your comments with blogger. That way, maybe you can recover your comments later in case you choose to return to default blogger system
Anyway, best wishes.
Yes. Disqus is very useful tool for comments. It improves traffic also.
Oh realy? thanks!
Xeno, welcome here!
yeah, i read about disqus on your blog!
thanks for sharing ur views about the commenting form.
I didn't lose my comments, i imported all of them in this form. also have synced already, as told by you also.
As for email notofications, Blogger also gives intimation when u get a new comment. Or did u mean email sent to the commentor when u reply to his comment?? yeah, that is the plus point, which Disqus gives.
But am not sure, do all ppl get this intimation?? or the one who have account on Disqus? and have enabled settings?? don't know that part.
thanks a lot
PR is not an easy thing which comes in a day. It needs a lot of back-links from other sites; in fact other high PR sites. It takes time. Be patient and keep blogging; you'll get it one day. Even I have a PR 0
Hands to god kid, I always appreciate anyone who has disqus!
I've found it very useful once I installed it, too. All the advantages of an online community plus the flexibility to view and administer comments using the Disqus server. The portability of comments is also very useful in case you plan to move your blog to a new address. Overall, a great product and an excellent utility.
Wow! feels good to hear some good things about Disqus! Thanks!
Oh thanks.. that's a compliment for my blog!
move to wordpress!! it is best!
comments looks much organized this way! so do you personally encounter load time issues?
Glad you've switch to the best comment system!
